Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding unregulated dumping of municipal solid waste at Bakarganj dumping ground, Bareilly

Order of the NGT in the matter of Samaj Sewa Samiti V/s. Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board & Others dated 02/01/2018 regarding the issue of unscientific and unregulated dumping of municipal solid waste at Bakarganj dumping ground, Bareilly and its adverse impacts on the environment.

 

NGT directs Bareilly Municipal Corporation to place before the Court the complete time bound Action Plan for handing of municipal solid waste as per the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 within the limits of the Corporation and for handling and disposal of legacy waste lying at Bakarganj dumping sites.

 

NGT further directed Bareilly Municipal Corporation to give the following particulars:-

 

1. Total municipal solid waste generation within its limit;

2. Breakup of the municipal solid waste in terms of its constituents namely Bio-degradable, degradable and recyclable;

3. The process adopted for disposing of the legacy waste; and

4. Time span required for disposal of legacy waste.
